Taman Negara, situated in the heart of Pahang, Malaysia, is one of the oldest rainforest in the world at 130 million years old.

Within it, lays a geographical wonder of permanently untouched and protected habitat for flora and fauna to florish to all its glory.

As such, this a perfect platform for the development of a hub towards the education of conservation of the ecology surrounding Taman Negara and rainforests in general.

We strongly believe that Taman Negara has the potential to be a global platform for the both Eco & Adventure education tourism centre.

My humble beginnings of 30 plus years specialising in tourism at Taman Negara and the handling of some 1 million over tourists since day one, has led me to the formation of two travel agencies (NKS and Han Travel) and a resort with the biggest room capacity at Kuala Tahan. We average 30,000 tourists a year and 90% of them are from Europe.

It has come to a time, where I feel personally, having been in this trade for 30 odd years, it is time to educate the younger generation and anyone from all walks of life willing to learn about the conservation of the ecology and its surroundings.

We at Han Travel, have formed two new arms in our corporation to execute the upcoming programs called Eco Adventure Tourism.

This will be encased with the educational arm named the Eco Educational Tourism, headed by Mr Frank Kee and his team and in support with the activities provided by the Adventure Management Tourism headed by Mr Kevin Bateman and his team.

Just one of our examples for the educational program is the re-planting of bamboo or specific trees by badly eroded areas in the effort to prevent further damage to the riversides.

This is just an example of what we would provide as a CSR initiative.

We shall be working closely with the Sultan Ahmad Environmental foundation in its efforts and participate and uphold its values.

Alas, with our planning and preparation, we now realise that we face a huge stumbling block.

We do not a permanent site to conduct our activities in a conducive and safe manner.

Also, current rules and regulations by the government sectors should be looked at and revised to enable operators like us to introduce and execute the mutually beneficial conservational education programs.

In the extended period, the efforts will benefit not just the environment but also creating employment opportunity to the locals within its surroundings.

I now urge, the Pahang state Government, Ministry of Tourism and other related government agencies to assist us in paving the way into this journey with us.

Other Asian countries are already promoting their countrys’ tagline, for example;-

Thailand – Culture tourism
Indonesia – Art tourism
Phillipines – Diving tourism
Malaysia – Eco & Adventure tourism

All told, our Ministry of Tourism Malaysia have also set their vision on Eco Tourism with its plans & implementation of its program from 2025 and continued focusing till 2050.

Han Travel Sdn Bhd, is now at the final phases of the planning and is almost ready to launch our initial program on Eco & Adventure Tourism. The launch pad and operations will be at the Han Rainforest Resort, Kuala Tahan.

We hope our efforts will promote and drive the state of Pahang to be model state and also the centre of Ecological Awareness and the centre for the Education on Rainforest Preservation.

Once again, I believe that our vision is in line with the Pahang State government’s. Developing a fully functioning centre where the education of the ecology can spread to all walks of life through an experiential process where participants can touch, feel, smell, see and hear the importance of the ecology around us and the threats to its and our existence.

Thank you
